Description
A mouthwatering twist on the classic sandwich, Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteaks are quick, budget-friendly, and packed with flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 4 slices provolone cheese (or any cheese of your preference)
- 4 hoagie rolls
- Olive oil, for cooking
Instructions
- Drizzle olive oil in a large skillet and heat over medium-high.
- Add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Cook for about 3-5 minutes until they soften. If using mushrooms, toss those in next and sauté for an additional 3 minutes.
- Push the veggies to the side and add the ground beef. Break it up and cook until it’s no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let it cook for another 2 minutes to enhance the flavor.
- Lower the heat and place a slice of cheese over the beef mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid and let the cheese melt for about 2-3 minutes.
- While the cheese is melting, slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise—be careful not to cut all the way through.
- Once the cheese has melted to perfection, spoon the beef and vegetable mixture into each roll.
- For extra crunch, consider toasting the rolls lightly before adding the filling.
Notes
For a spicy kick, mix in hot peppers or try different types of cheese like cheddar or pepper jack.
