Description

A mouthwatering twist on the classic sandwich, Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteaks are quick, budget-friendly, and packed with flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 4 slices provolone cheese (or any cheese of your preference)
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • Olive oil, for cooking

Instructions

  1. Drizzle olive oil in a large skillet and heat over medium-high.
  2. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Cook for about 3-5 minutes until they soften. If using mushrooms, toss those in next and sauté for an additional 3 minutes.
  3. Push the veggies to the side and add the ground beef. Break it up and cook until it’s no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let it cook for another 2 minutes to enhance the flavor.
  5. Lower the heat and place a slice of cheese over the beef mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid and let the cheese melt for about 2-3 minutes.
  6. While the cheese is melting, slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise—be careful not to cut all the way through.
  7. Once the cheese has melted to perfection, spoon the beef and vegetable mixture into each roll.
  8. For extra crunch, consider toasting the rolls lightly before adding the filling.

Notes

For a spicy kick, mix in hot peppers or try different types of cheese like cheddar or pepper jack.
