Description
A quick and delicious take on the classic Philly cheesesteak using ground beef, perfect for weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 4 slices provolone cheese (or cheese of your choice)
- 4 hoagie rolls
- Olive oil, for cooking
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and drizzle with olive oil.
- Add the sliced onions and bell peppers, sautéing for 3-5 minutes until softened. If using mushrooms, add them and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
- Push the veggies to one side of the skillet and add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until there’s no pink left, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together for 2 minutes.
- Reduce heat to low and top the beef mixture with a slice of cheese. Cover the skillet and let the cheese melt for 2-3 minutes.
- Slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through.
- Once the cheese is melted, spoon the beef and vegetable mixture into each roll.
- If desired, toast the rolls before serving for extra crunch.
Notes
Elevate your cheesesteaks with side dishes like French fries or a fresh salad, and feel free to add toppings like sautéed jalapeños or marinara sauce.
