  • Total Time: 30 minutes

Description

A quick and delicious take on the classic Philly cheesesteak using ground beef, perfect for weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 4 slices provolone cheese (or cheese of your choice)
  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • Olive oil, for cooking

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and drizzle with olive oil.
  2. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers, sautéing for 3-5 minutes until softened. If using mushrooms, add them and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
  3. Push the veggies to one side of the skillet and add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until there’s no pink left, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together for 2 minutes.
  5. Reduce heat to low and top the beef mixture with a slice of cheese. Cover the skillet and let the cheese melt for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through.
  7. Once the cheese is melted, spoon the beef and vegetable mixture into each roll.
  8. If desired, toast the rolls before serving for extra crunch.

Notes

Elevate your cheesesteaks with side dishes like French fries or a fresh salad, and feel free to add toppings like sautéed jalapeños or marinara sauce.
