Description
Quick and delicious Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteaks filled with sautéed vegetables and gooey melted cheese, perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional but recommended)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 4 slices provolone cheese (or any cheese of your choice)
- 4 hoagie rolls
- Olive oil, for cooking
Instructions
- In a large skillet, drizzle some olive oil and heat over medium-high.
- Sauté the sliced onions and bell peppers for 3-5 minutes until tender. If adding mushrooms, throw those in next and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
- Push the vegetables to the side of the skillet and add your ground beef. Break apart and cook until it’s no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
- Season the mixture with garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Stir well for about 2 minutes until everything is combined.
- Reduce the heat to low and place a slice of cheese over the beef mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid and let the cheese melt for 2-3 minutes.
- Meanwhile, slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through.
- Once the cheese has melted, spoon the beef and vegetable mix into each roll.
- Optionally, toast the rolls for an extra layer of texture before serving!
Notes
For the best flavor, sauté the veggies first and don’t skip the Worcestershire sauce. Feel free to experiment with different cheeses.
