Delicious and hearty Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteaks made with well-seasoned beef, melty cheese, sautéed onions, and peppers in soft hoagie rolls.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 4 slices provolone cheese (or any cheese of your preference)
- 4 hoagie rolls
- Olive oil, for cooking
Instructions
- Drizzle olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add sliced onions and bell peppers, sautéing for about 3-5 minutes until tender. If using mushrooms, add them and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
- Push the vegetables to the side and add ground beef, cooking until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper, mixing for about 2 minutes.
- Reduce heat to low, place a slice of cheese over the beef mixture, cover with a lid, and let it melt for about 2-3 minutes.
- Slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through.
- Spoon the beef and vegetable mixture generously into each roll.
- Serve hot, optionally toasting the rolls for extra texture.
Notes
Feel free to swap ground beef with turkey or plant-based meat. Use good quality cheese for the best flavor!
