Hawaiian Roll Grilled Cheese

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

A delightful twist on the classic grilled cheese, using sweet Hawaiian rolls and creamy Monterey Jack cheese for a melt-in-your-mouth experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 Hawaiian rolls
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Optional: Sliced tomatoes or crispy bacon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Rolls: Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half, ensuring you don’t cut all the way through to keep them connected.
  2. Butter the Insides: Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Spread butter on the insides of each roll.
  3. Add Cheese: Place the bottom halves of the rolls on the skillet, and fill them generously with shredded Monterey Jack cheese. If you’re using tomatoes or bacon, add those now too.
  4. Assemble: Press the top halves down gently to seal in the cheese.
  5. Grill to Perfection: Cook the sandwiches for about 3-4 minutes on each side, flipping carefully when golden brown. Look for crispy exteriors and melted interiors!
  6. Slice and Serve: Once both sides are perfectly golden and the cheese is gooey, remove from heat, slice, and serve hot.

Notes

Serve with tomato soup or a green salad for a perfect pairing. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
