Description
A delightful twist on the classic grilled cheese, using sweet Hawaiian rolls and creamy Monterey Jack cheese for a melt-in-your-mouth experience.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 Hawaiian rolls
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Optional: Sliced tomatoes or crispy bacon
Instructions
- Prepare the Rolls: Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half, ensuring you don’t cut all the way through to keep them connected.
- Butter the Insides: Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Spread butter on the insides of each roll.
- Add Cheese: Place the bottom halves of the rolls on the skillet, and fill them generously with shredded Monterey Jack cheese. If you’re using tomatoes or bacon, add those now too.
- Assemble: Press the top halves down gently to seal in the cheese.
- Grill to Perfection: Cook the sandwiches for about 3-4 minutes on each side, flipping carefully when golden brown. Look for crispy exteriors and melted interiors!
- Slice and Serve: Once both sides are perfectly golden and the cheese is gooey, remove from heat, slice, and serve hot.
Notes
Serve with tomato soup or a green salad for a perfect pairing. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
