- 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- Add the olive oil and salt to the yeast mixture, then gradually stir in the flour. Continue mixing until a dough forms.
- Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl. Cover it with plastic wrap or a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm spot for 1-2 hours, until it doubles in size.
- After rising, punch down the dough to release air and shape it into a loaf.
- Place the loaf in a greased bread pan, cover it, and allow it to rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool before slicing. Enjoy!
Notes
For a richer flavor, you can replace olive oil with melted butter. Whole wheat flour can also be used for a healthier option.
