Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Add the olive oil and salt to the yeast mixture, then gradually stir in the flour. Continue mixing until a dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl. Cover it with plastic wrap or a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm spot for 1-2 hours, until it doubles in size.
  5. After rising, punch down the dough to release air and shape it into a loaf.
  6. Place the loaf in a greased bread pan, cover it, and allow it to rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  7. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool before slicing. Enjoy!

Notes

For a richer flavor, you can replace olive oil with melted butter. Whole wheat flour can also be used for a healthier option.
