Ingredients

- 4 cups of water
- 4 black tea bags
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 4–6 whole cloves
- 4–6 cardamom pods
- 1–2 slices of fresh ginger
- 1 cup of sugar (or to taste)
- 1 cup of milk or milk alternative
Instructions
- Begin by bringing 4 cups of water to a vigorous boil in a pot.
- Once boiling, add in the black tea bags, cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods, and ginger slices.
- Allow the mixture to simmer for about 10 minutes, letting those wonderful flavors meld together.
- Remove the pot from heat and stir in the sugar until it fully dissolves.
- Strain the chai concentrate into a container and set it aside to cool to room temperature.
- When you’re ready to enjoy, mix the concentrate with an equal part of milk, whether hot or iced.
Notes
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. Freezing in ice cube trays is also an option for longer storage.
