Description

A delightful homemade chai concentrate that brings together the rich, spicy flavors of traditional chai, perfect for warming moments at home.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 4 tablespoons black tea leaves or 4 tea bags
  • 1/2 cup sugar (or to taste)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 56 whole cloves
  • 56 whole cardamom pods
  • 12 slices of fresh ginger
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Boil 4 cups of water in a saucepan.
  2. Add the black tea, sugar, cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods, and fresh ginger once the water is boiling.
  3. Reduce heat and let the mixture simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
  4. Strain the mixture into a bowl or container, discarding the solids.
  5. Allow the chai concentrate to cool and transfer it to a storage container in the refrigerator.

Notes

Store the concentrate in an airtight container for up to a week, or freeze it in ice cube trays for longer storage.
