A delightful homemade chai concentrate that brings together the rich, spicy flavors of traditional chai, perfect for warming moments at home.
Ingredients

- 4 cups water
- 4 tablespoons black tea leaves or 4 tea bags
- 1/2 cup sugar (or to taste)
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 5–6 whole cloves
- 5–6 whole cardamom pods
- 1–2 slices of fresh ginger
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Boil 4 cups of water in a saucepan.
- Add the black tea, sugar, cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods, and fresh ginger once the water is boiling.
- Reduce heat and let the mixture simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Strain the mixture into a bowl or container, discarding the solids.
- Allow the chai concentrate to cool and transfer it to a storage container in the refrigerator.
Notes
Store the concentrate in an airtight container for up to a week, or freeze it in ice cube trays for longer storage.
