Ingredients

  • 2 cups Water
  • 2 tablespoons Black tea (loose leaf or bags)
  • 1 Cinnamon stick
  • 1 teaspoon Ground ginger
  • 3 Cloves
  • 4 Cardamom pods, crushed
  • Sugar or honey (to taste)
  • 2 cups Milk (dairy or non-dairy alternatives)

Instructions

  1. Boil the water in a saucepan.
  2. Add the cinnamon stick, ginger, cloves, and crushed cardamom pods once boiling. Simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  3. Brew the black tea leaves or bags and simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  4. Sweeten the mixture with sugar or honey, then remove from heat.
  5. Incorporate the milk slowly and return to low heat, avoiding boiling.
  6. Strain the tea into mugs, discarding the solid spices and tea leaves. Serve hot or iced.

Notes

Serve with a sprinkle of cinnamon or a dollop of whipped cream. Pairs well with pastries and cookies.
