Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let this sit for about 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, blend together flour, salt, and garlic powder.
  3. Pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the dry ingredients. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead it for about 5 minutes, or until it feels smooth and elastic.
  5. Put the dough into a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise for an hour until it doubles in size.
  6. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  7. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle.
  8. Place the rolled-out dough onto a baking sheet and generously sprinkle it with shredded mozzarella cheese.
  9. Brush the dough with melted butter and sprinkle with chopped parsley, if desired.
  10. Place in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown.
  11. Slice into sticks and serve immediately!

Notes

Store leftover breadsticks in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
