Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let this sit for about 10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, blend together flour, salt, and garlic powder.
- Pour the yeast mixture and olive oil into the dry ingredients. Mix until a sticky dough forms.
- Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead it for about 5 minutes, or until it feels smooth and elastic.
- Put the dough into a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise for an hour until it doubles in size.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle.
- Place the rolled-out dough onto a baking sheet and generously sprinkle it with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Brush the dough with melted butter and sprinkle with chopped parsley, if desired.
- Place in the oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, until golden brown.
- Slice into sticks and serve immediately!
Notes
Store leftover breadsticks in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for longer storage.
