Description
Soft, chewy focaccia bread topped with fragrant rosemary, perfect for dipping in olive oil or adding to sandwiches.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups bread flour
- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/4 cup olive oil (plus more for drizzling)
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- Fresh rosemary (for topping)
- Coarse salt (for topping)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the bread flour, instant yeast, and salt.
- Gradually add the warm water and olive oil, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough briefly on a floured surface until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise for about 2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Once the dough has risen, transfer it to a greased baking sheet. Use your fingers to stretch it out to fit the pan, creating dimples in the surface.
- Drizzle olive oil on top, then sprinkle with fresh rosemary and coarse salt.
- Let it rise for another 15 minutes before baking.
- Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow it to cool slightly before slicing and serving.
Notes
For variations, try adding toppings such as olives, sun-dried tomatoes, or caramelized onions. Ensure water is about 110°F to activate yeast properly.
