Ingredients

- 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F-115°F)
- 1 packet active dry yeast (2 ¼ tsp)
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt
- 2/3 cup baking soda
- 1 large egg, beaten
- Coarse sea salt for sprinkling
- Optional toppings (e.g., cinnamon sugar, garlic powder, cheese)
Instructions
- Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in a bowl. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- Mix in flour and salt, kneading the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Let the dough rise in a covered bowl for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C) and bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add baking soda to the boiling water.
- Roll the dough into ropes and cut them into bite-sized pieces.
- Boil the pretzel bites for about 30 seconds, then remove them and place on a baking sheet.
- Brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days. Refrigerate for up to a week, or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven for best results.
