Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups milk

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and salt.
  2. Gradually stir in the milk over medium heat.
  3. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring constantly.
  4. Continue to cook until the pudding thickens enough to coat the back of a spoon.
  5. Remove from heat, and stir in the butter and vanilla until the butter is completely melted.
  6. Let the pudding cool slightly, and then cover and chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Notes

For a vegan version, consider using non-dairy milk alternatives or substituting coconut oil for butter. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
