  • Total Time: 55 minutes
  • Yield: 20 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

Transform the classic pecan pie into easy-to-handle bars, perfect for sharing during the holiday season.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 cups chopped pecans
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
  2. Make the crust: In a medium bowl, combine the softened butter, flour, granulated sugar, and salt until a crumbly dough forms. Press it evenly into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake the crust: Place the crust in the oven and bake for 18-20 minutes or until it’s lightly golden. Remove it from the oven and set aside.
  4. Prepare the filling: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, corn syrup, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth. Stir in the chopped pecans.
  5. Combine and bake: Pour the pecan mixture over the crust, spreading it evenly. Return to the oven and bake for another 20-22 minutes, or until the filling is set and golden brown.
  6. Cool and slice: Allow the bars to cool completely in the pan. Once set, lift out using the parchment overhang, slice into squares, and enjoy!

Notes

For serving, consider pairing with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, or refrigerate for up to a week.
