- 2 boneless ribeye steaks (8 oz each)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon mirin
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon chopped green onions
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions
- Pat dry the steaks with paper towels.
- Season both sides generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- Preheat a large skillet or hibachi grill over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil.
- Sear the steaks for 4 to 5 minutes on one side.
- Flip the steaks and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes, until desired doneness.
- Add butter in the last minute of cooking and spoon it over the steaks.
- Remove steaks and let them rest for about 5 minutes.
- Prepare the sauce by combining soy sauce, mirin, rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated ginger, and sesame seeds in a small bowl and whisking until smooth.
- Slice the steaks against the grain and serve on plates, drizzled with sauce and garnished with green onions.
Notes
For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free soy sauce. Experiment with marinating additional spices for unique flavors.
