Description

Ingredients

  • 2 boneless ribeye steaks (8 oz each)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon mirin
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon chopped green onions
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Pat dry the steaks with paper towels.
  2. Season both sides generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Preheat a large skillet or hibachi grill over medium-high heat and add the vegetable oil.
  4. Sear the steaks for 4 to 5 minutes on one side.
  5. Flip the steaks and cook for another 3 to 4 minutes, until desired doneness.
  6. Add butter in the last minute of cooking and spoon it over the steaks.
  7. Remove steaks and let them rest for about 5 minutes.
  8. Prepare the sauce by combining soy sauce, mirin, rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated ginger, and sesame seeds in a small bowl and whisking until smooth.
  9. Slice the steaks against the grain and serve on plates, drizzled with sauce and garnished with green onions.

Notes

For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free soy sauce. Experiment with marinating additional spices for unique flavors.
