Description
A refreshing twist on burgers with ground chicken, feta cheese, and fresh herbs, complemented by creamy tzatziki sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb Ground Chicken (93% lean)
- 1/2 cup Feta Cheese (substitute with goat cheese or omit for dairy-free)
- 1 medium Onion (finely chopped)
- 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley (or dill)
- 1 tsp Dried Oregano
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Black Pepper (freshly ground)
- 1/4 tsp Red Pepper Flakes (optional)
- 1 tbsp Lemon Zest
- 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
- 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs (or almond flour for gluten-free)
- 1 large Egg
- 1 cup Tzatziki Sauce
- 2 cups Fresh Vegetables (lettuce, sliced tomatoes, cucumbers)
- 4 pieces of Buns or Pita (whole grain or gluten-free)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, feta cheese, chopped onion, minced garlic, herbs, oregano, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, lemon zest, lemon juice, breadcrumbs, and the egg.
- Mix everything together until well blended but don’t overwork it; this keeps the burgers juicy.
- Shape the mixture into patties of your desired thickness.
- Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it.
- Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they are fully cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- While the burgers are cooking, assemble your fresh vegetables and prepare your tzatziki sauce.
- Once cooked, serve the patties on buns or in pita pockets, topped with fresh veggies and tzatziki.
Notes
Best kept in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Uncooked patties can be frozen for up to 3 months.
