Description

A refreshing twist on burgers with ground chicken, feta cheese, and fresh herbs, complemented by creamy tzatziki sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb Ground Chicken (93% lean)
  • 1/2 cup Feta Cheese (substitute with goat cheese or omit for dairy-free)
  • 1 medium Onion (finely chopped)
  • 3 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Parsley (or dill)
  • 1 tsp Dried Oregano
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper (freshly ground)
  • 1/4 tsp Red Pepper Flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Zest
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1/2 cup Breadcrumbs (or almond flour for gluten-free)
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 cup Tzatziki Sauce
  • 2 cups Fresh Vegetables (lettuce, sliced tomatoes, cucumbers)
  • 4 pieces of Buns or Pita (whole grain or gluten-free)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, feta cheese, chopped onion, minced garlic, herbs, oregano, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, lemon zest, lemon juice, breadcrumbs, and the egg.
  2. Mix everything together until well blended but don’t overwork it; this keeps the burgers juicy.
  3. Shape the mixture into patties of your desired thickness.
  4. Preheat a grill or skillet over medium heat and lightly grease it.
  5. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they are fully cooked through and reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  6. While the burgers are cooking, assemble your fresh vegetables and prepare your tzatziki sauce.
  7. Once cooked, serve the patties on buns or in pita pockets, topped with fresh veggies and tzatziki.

Notes

Best kept in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Uncooked patties can be frozen for up to 3 months.
