Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until it shimmers.
  2. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook for 6-8 minutes until browned.
  3. Push the beef to one side of the skillet. In the empty space, add the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook for 3 minutes until the onion turns translucent.
  4. Toss in the broccoli florets, mixing them in with the beef for about a minute.
  5. Season the mixture with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir thoroughly to coat.
  6. Cover the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, checking halfway to stir gently.
  7. Lower the heat and pour in the heavy cream, scraping up any browned bits from the pan.
  8. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar on top. Cover again for 2-3 minutes, allowing the cheese to melt.
  9. If using, drizzle Worcestershire sauce and sprinkle red pepper flakes over the melted cheese. Stir gently to mix.
  10. Serve hot right from the skillet.

Notes

For a lighter option, substitute ground beef with turkey or chicken. For dairy-free, use nutritional yeast instead of cheese.
