Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 6 strips bacon, diced
  • 1/2 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: Chopped green onions and diced tomatoes for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the diced bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels, leaving the grease in the skillet.
  3. Sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic in the skillet until the onion is translucent.
  4. Brown the ground beef until browned and drain excess grease.
  5. Combine the cooked bacon and set aside to cool slightly.
  6. Mix together eggs, heavy cream, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  7. Assemble by spreading the beef and bacon mixture in a greased 8×8-inch baking dish. Layer with 1 cup of cheddar cheese, pour over the egg mixture, and top with remaining cheese.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until set and golden.
  9. Cool for a few minutes before garnishing with green onions and tomatoes if desired.

Notes

This casserole can be customized with turkey bacon or a dairy-free cream alternative. It’s also great for meal prep and freezes well.
