- 1 pound ground beef
- 6 strips bacon, diced
- 1/2 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: Chopped green onions and diced tomatoes for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the diced bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels, leaving the grease in the skillet.
- Sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic in the skillet until the onion is translucent.
- Brown the ground beef until browned and drain excess grease.
- Combine the cooked bacon and set aside to cool slightly.
- Mix together eggs, heavy cream, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- Assemble by spreading the beef and bacon mixture in a greased 8×8-inch baking dish. Layer with 1 cup of cheddar cheese, pour over the egg mixture, and top with remaining cheese.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, until set and golden.
- Cool for a few minutes before garnishing with green onions and tomatoes if desired.
Notes
This casserole can be customized with turkey bacon or a dairy-free cream alternative. It’s also great for meal prep and freezes well.
