  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x
  • Diet: Low Carb, Gluten-Free

Description

A delightful spin on the classic Philadelphia cheesesteak, this low-carb casserole is layered with seasoned beef, savory vegetables, and gooey cheese, making it perfect for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 fat ratio preferred)
  • 1 large onion (diced)
  • 2 large bell peppers (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened to room temperature)
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 8 oz provolone cheese (sliced)
  • 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly spray a 9×13 baking dish with non-stick spray.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onions and bell peppers, cooking for about 5-6 minutes until softened.
  3. Add the minced garlic and stir for another 30 seconds.
  4. Next, add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula. Season with salt and pepper and cook until browned, around 7-8 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  5. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, then reduce heat to low. Mix in the softened cream cheese until melted and creamy.
  6. Transfer the beef mixture to the baking dish and spread evenly. Layer torn pieces of provolone cheese over the top, followed by the shredded mozzarella.
  7. Bake for 22-25 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
