Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the maple syrup and vanilla extract into the egg mixture.
  5. Combine the flour, baking powder, and ground cinnamon in another bowl.
  6. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk until smooth.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and spread it evenly.
  8. Mix the brown sugar, chopped nuts (if using), and cinnamon for the streusel topping.
  9. Sprinkle the streusel over the cake batter.
  10. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Allow the cake to cool in the pan and then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
