 - 1 cup granulated sugar
 - 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
 - 1/2 cup maple syrup
 - 1 cup milk
 - 3 eggs
 - 1 tablespoon baking powder
 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
 - 1/2 cup brown sugar
 - 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
 
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
 - Cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
 - Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
 - Stir in the maple syrup and vanilla extract into the egg mixture.
 - Combine the flour, baking powder, and ground cinnamon in another bowl.
 - Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk until smooth.
 - Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and spread it evenly.
 - Mix the brown sugar, chopped nuts (if using), and cinnamon for the streusel topping.
 - Sprinkle the streusel over the cake batter.
 - Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
 - Allow the cake to cool in the pan and then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
 
Notes
For added flavor, serve with whipped cream, ice cream, or a drizzle of maple syrup.
