Ingredients

  • 150 grams (1 ½ cups) all-purpose flour
  • 100 ml (½ cup) water
  • 100 ml (½ cup) milk
  • 80 grams (⅓ cup) melted butter
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 500 ml (2 cups) milk for filling
  • 150 grams (¾ cup) sugar for filling
  • 100 grams (1 cup) all-purpose flour for filling
  • 2 large eggs for filling
  • 180 grams (¾ cup) room temperature butter for filling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine eggs, water, milk, and melted butter.
  4. Gradually pour the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  5. Pour into a greased baking dish and bake for about 40 minutes.
  6. Cool on a wire rack.
  7. For the filling, heat milk and sugar together until the sugar dissolves.
  8. Whisk flour and eggs together separately; gradually combine with warm milk, whisking continuously.
  9. Return to stovetop and stir until thickened. Add in butter and let cool.
  10. Assemble by layering the filling between the cooled cake layers and chill before serving.

Notes

Dust with powdered sugar or serve with whipped cream or fresh fruits for added flavor.
