Description

Ingredients

  • 2 packs thick-cut bacon
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 large baguette, sliced into 24 rounds
  • Olive oil (for brushing)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 8 oz goat cheese log
  • Maple syrup, honey, or hot honey (for drizzling)
  • Optional garnishes: chopped fresh thyme, chives, or candied pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with foil. Place a wire rack on top.
  2. In a bowl, mix the brown sugar, water, and spices to create a coating for the bacon.
  3. Dredge each bacon strip in this mixture and lay them on the wire rack.
  4. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy and caramelized. Let the bacon cool, then chop or break it into bite-sized pieces.
  5. Brush the baguette slices with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  6. Toast the baguette slices in the oven at 375°F for about 8-10 minutes, flipping once until they turn golden brown.
  7. Spread a generous amount of goat cheese on each toasted crostini and top with pieces of the caramelized bacon.
  8. Drizzle each piece with maple syrup or hot honey.
  9. Garnish with fresh herbs or a sprinkle of candied nuts if desired.
