Description

A layered dish of hearty meats, creamy cheeses, and zesty tomato sauce that’s perfect for gatherings or family dinners.


Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 1 large Onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 1 pound Italian Sausage
  • 28 ounces Crushed Tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato Paste
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Dried Basil
  • 2 teaspoons Italian Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper
  • 15 ounces Ricotta Cheese
  • 1 cup Sour Cream
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese, grated
  • 1/4 cup Chopped Parsley
  • 12 ounces Lasagna Noodles
  • 4 cups Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
  • 2 tablespoons Butter

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Cook the onions and garlic until soft and fragrant.
  3. Brown the ground beef and Italian sausage until browned, about 8-10 minutes.
  4. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, basil, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 20 minutes.
  5. Prepare the cheese mixture by combining ricotta cheese, sour cream, egg, and half of the Parmesan cheese.
  6. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions.
  7. Layer the lasagna in a baking dish starting with meat sauce, followed by noodles and the cheese mixture, then sprinkle mozzarella. Repeat layers.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) covered with foil for 25 minutes. Remove the foil, brush edges with butter, and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  9. Rest the lasagna for 10-15 minutes before slicing and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

Best served fresh out of the oven with a side salad and garlic bread. Can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days or frozen for 3 months.
