- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
- 1 large Onion, chopped
- 3 cloves Garlic, minced
- 1 pound Ground Beef
- 1 pound Italian Sausage
- 28 ounces Crushed Tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons Tomato Paste
- 1 teaspoon Sugar
- 2 teaspoons Dried Basil
- 2 teaspoons Italian Seasoning
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Pepper
- 15 ounces Ricotta Cheese
- 1 cup Sour Cream
- 1 large Egg
- 1 cup Parmesan Cheese, grated
- 1/4 cup Chopped Parsley
- 12 ounces Lasagna Noodles
- 4 cups Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
- 2 tablespoons Butter
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Cook the onions and garlic until soft and fragrant.
- Brown the ground beef and Italian sausage until browned, about 8-10 minutes.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, basil, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 20 minutes.
- Prepare the cheese mixture by combining ricotta cheese, sour cream, egg, and half of the Parmesan cheese.
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions.
- Layer the lasagna in a baking dish starting with meat sauce, followed by noodles and the cheese mixture, then sprinkle mozzarella. Repeat layers.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) covered with foil for 25 minutes. Remove the foil, brush edges with butter, and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
- Rest the lasagna for 10-15 minutes before slicing and garnish with fresh parsley.
Notes
Best served fresh out of the oven with a side salad and garlic bread. Can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days or frozen for 3 months.
