  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup brandy or rum (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one by one, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  5. Gradually combine dry ingredients with the wet mixture, alternating with the orange juice until well integrated.
  6. Gently fold in the dried fruits and nuts until evenly distributed.
  7. Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.
  9. Bake for 60-75 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Notes

For enhanced flavor, soak dried fruits in orange juice or alcohol for a few hours or overnight.
