Description

A simple and fuss-free recipe for crusty artisan-style bread that requires no kneading, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons coarse sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast (or instant yeast)
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water (around 110 degrees F)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sea salt, and yeast. Stir.
  2. Pour warm water into the dry ingredients and mix with a wooden spoon until fully combined.
  3. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rise at room temperature for 3-4 hours, or in the refrigerator for up to 15 hours.
  4. Turn out the dough onto a floured surface and shape it into a ball.
  5. Place the dough on parchment paper and cover lightly with plastic wrap for about 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F with a Dutch oven or cast iron pot inside.
  7. Remove the plastic wrap and lift the parchment paper and dough into the preheated pot. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the lid and bake for an additional 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on a wire rack.

Notes

Store bread in an open paper bag at room temperature for up to a week. Avoid plastic bags to maintain crustiness.
