Ingredients

- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
Instructions
- Whisk together the flour, salt, and instant yeast in a large mixing bowl until well combined.
- Add warm water and stir until a shaggy dough forms; it doesn’t need to be perfectly mixed.
- Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap and let it rise at room temperature for 12 to 18 hours until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and place a Dutch oven inside to heat up.
- Lightly flour a clean surface and gently turn out the dough, shaping it into a ball without overworking.
- Transfer the dough onto parchment paper and let it rest for about 30 minutes while the oven heats.
- Carefully remove the hot Dutch oven and, using the parchment paper, lift the dough into the pot.
- Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown and crusty.
- Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing.
Notes
For a chewier texture, feel free to swap all-purpose flour for bread flour. Store at room temperature in a paper bag.
