Description
A quick and easy no-yeast bread recipe perfect for busy weeknights, ready in under 20 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or greasing it lightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until combined.
- Slowly pour in the warm water and the oil, stirring until a soft dough forms.
- Sprinkle some flour on your countertop and turn the dough out onto the floured surface.
- Knead the dough lightly for 1-2 minutes until it’s smooth.
- Shape the dough into a round or oval loaf and transfer it to the prepared baking sheet.
- Pat the top smooth and use a sharp knife to make a few slashes; this helps the bread to bake evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes until golden brown and it sounds hollow when tapped.
- Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack for 5-10 minutes before slicing.
Notes
Store leftover bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days, or freeze slices for longer storage.
