No-Yeast Bread

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 1 loaf 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

A quick and easy no-yeast bread recipe perfect for busy weeknights, ready in under 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or greasing it lightly.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until combined.
  3. Slowly pour in the warm water and the oil, stirring until a soft dough forms.
  4. Sprinkle some flour on your countertop and turn the dough out onto the floured surface.
  5. Knead the dough lightly for 1-2 minutes until it’s smooth.
  6. Shape the dough into a round or oval loaf and transfer it to the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Pat the top smooth and use a sharp knife to make a few slashes; this helps the bread to bake evenly.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes until golden brown and it sounds hollow when tapped.
  9. Allow the bread to cool on a wire rack for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Store leftover bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days, or freeze slices for longer storage.
