Old-Fashioned Thanksgiving Turkey Stuffing

  • Total Time: 65 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian (if made without broth from animal sources)

Description

A traditional Thanksgiving stuffing made with soft bread, aromatic herbs, and sautéed vegetables, perfect for complementing your festive turkey.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 loaf of bread, cubed (preferably stale)
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 cup celery, chopped
  • 1/2 cup butter (for sautéing)
  • 2 cups turkey broth (or chicken broth)
  • 1 tablespoon sage (fresh or dried)
  • 1 tablespoon thyme (fresh or dried)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and celery; sauté until soft (about 5-7 minutes).
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cubed bread, sautéed veggies, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Gradually add turkey broth, ensuring the bread is moist but not swampy.
  5. Transfer the mixture into a greased baking dish and cover with foil. Bake for 30 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Serve warm and enjoy.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with gluten-free bread or add nuts for an extra crunch. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for a month.
