Description
A healthy twist on classic burgers, using tender cabbage leaves as a bun for savory meat and cheesy goodness.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 small head Cabbage (cut into thick slices)
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil (for brushing)
- 1 pound Ground Beef or Turkey (or substitute with ground chicken or a plant-based option)
- 1 medium Onion (finely chopped)
- 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 1 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 large Egg (optional, for binding)
- 1 cup Cheese (for sprinkling on top)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Brush both sides of each cabbage slice with olive oil and arrange them on a baking sheet. Roast for about 20-25 minutes until tender, flipping halfway through.
- While the cabbage roasts, mix the ground meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, pepper, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, and the optional egg in a bowl until well combined.
- Once the cabbage is ready, remove it from the oven. Place a scoop of the meat mixture onto half of each cabbage slice, folding it over like a taco.
- You can sprinkle cheese on top if desired.
- Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the meat is cooked through and the cheese is bubbly.
Notes
Consider garnishing with fresh herbs like parsley or cilantro and serve with dipping sauces or side dishes like roasted vegetables.
