- 1 pound sausage (mild or spicy)
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 loaf of bread, cubed
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar recommended)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon mustard powder
Instructions
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned, draining excess fat.
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and mustard powder until well combined.
- Layer the cubed bread in a greased casserole dish.
- Sprinkle the cooked sausage evenly over the bread, followed by a layer of shredded cheese.
- Pour the egg mixture over everything, ensuring all the bread cubes are soaked.
- Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.
- The next morning, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the casserole for 45-50 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the eggs are set.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Can be frozen before baking.
