Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups chicken broth
- 2 cups sliced fresh green beans (or frozen)
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
- 1 (10 1/4 oz) can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 (2 7/8 oz) can French fried onion rings
- A pinch of salt, pepper, and garlic powder
- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese (or mozzarella/dairy-free option)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 baking dish with oil or butter.
- In a saucepan, bring the chicken broth to a boil. Add the green beans and cook for about 10 minutes until tender but still crisp.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the onions and mushrooms, sautéing until the onions become translucent.
- Drain the green beans and stir them into the skillet with the butter, onions, and mushrooms.
- Incorporate the cream of mushroom soup, French fried onions, and seasonings, mixing well.
- Transfer the mixture into the greased baking dish.
- Bake uncovered for 20 minutes. Then, sprinkle the grated cheese on top and bake for an additional 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Notes
For a twist, consider adding garlic powder or fresh herbs. For crunchier topping, mix additional French fried onions with cheese.
