Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. In another bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract, then add red food coloring until you reach your desired pink hue.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with buttermilk, until a soft dough forms.
  6. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set.
  8. Allow them to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
