- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

- Red food coloring

Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- In another bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract, then add red food coloring until you reach your desired pink hue.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, alternating with buttermilk, until a soft dough forms.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set.
- Allow them to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Decorate with sprinkles or icing as desired.
