Description

A delightful fusion of pizza and tater tots, this casserole is perfect for weeknight dinners and is highly customizable with your favorite toppings.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
  • Optional toppings: mini pepperoni, olives, bell peppers, green onions, mushrooms

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion for about 5-7 minutes until browned and the onion is soft. Drain any excess grease.
  4. Add the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, and a pinch of salt and pepper; stir to combine and let it simmer for a few minutes.
  5. Spread the beef mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish and sprinkle with 1 cup of shredded cheese.
  6. Layer the tater tots on top of the cheese and beef, then sprinkle the remaining cheese over the tater tots.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes until the tater tots are golden and crispy.
  8. If using optional toppings, add them during the last 5 minutes of baking.
  9. Let the casserole cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

Experiment by adding sautéed vegetables for extra flavor and nutrition. Store leftovers for up to four days in the fridge or freeze for up to three months.
