- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 large eggs
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup heavy cream (for filling)
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chocolate chips (for ganache)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (for ganache)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a saucepan, bring water and butter to a rolling boil.
- Stir in flour and salt, cooking until the mixture forms a ball that pulls away from the sides of the pan.
- Remove from heat and allow to cool for a few minutes.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth after each addition.
- Pipe small mounds of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and puffed up.
- While shells cool, whip 1 cup of heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
- Fill cooled pastry shells with the whipped cream.
- For ganache, heat 1/2 cup of heavy cream, pour over chocolate chips, and stir until smooth.
- Drizzle or dip filled profiteroles in ganache and let them set before serving.
Notes
Presentation is key; dust with powdered sugar for elegance and consider serving with ice cream or berries.
