Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream (for filling)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (for ganache)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (for ganache)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a saucepan, bring water and butter to a rolling boil.
  3. Stir in flour and salt, cooking until the mixture forms a ball that pulls away from the sides of the pan.
  4. Remove from heat and allow to cool for a few minutes.
  5. Add eggs one at a time, mixing until smooth after each addition.
  6. Pipe small mounds of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and puffed up.
  8. While shells cool, whip 1 cup of heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form.
  9. Fill cooled pastry shells with the whipped cream.
  10. For ganache, heat 1/2 cup of heavy cream, pour over chocolate chips, and stir until smooth.
  11. Drizzle or dip filled profiteroles in ganache and let them set before serving.

Notes

Presentation is key; dust with powdered sugar for elegance and consider serving with ice cream or berries.
