Ingredients
Scale
- 1 loaf of bread (challah or brioche recommended)
- 2 cups fresh blueberries
- 4 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Butter (for greasing)

- Cut the bread into cubes and layer half of it in the base of the dish.
- Sprinkle half of the blueberries over the bread layer.
- In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Pour half of this mixture over the bread and blueberries.
- Repeat the layering with the remaining bread and blueberries, then pour the rest of the egg mixture on top.
- Gently press down to allow the bread to soak up the liquid.
- Let it sit for 15-20 minutes to absorb, then bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown and set.
- Serve warm, dusted with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
For best results, use day-old bread and consider soaking the mixture overnight for more flavor.
