Description
Red Velvet Truffles are a delightful treat that brings a touch of elegance to any occasion with their creamy center and festive appearance.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box of red velvet cake mix
- Cake mix ingredients (water, oil, eggs—refer to the cake mix box for specific amounts)
- 10 oz cream cheese, softened
- 12 oz almond bark or white chocolate candy melts
- Festive sprinkles
Instructions
- Prepare the red velvet cake according to the instructions on the box. Bake it in a 9×13 inch pan and allow it to cool completely.
- Once cooled, trim off the crispy outer edges and discard.
- Crumble the remaining cake into a large mixing bowl using your hands.
- Incorporate the softened cream cheese until a dough-like consistency forms.
- Scoop out about 2 tablespoons of the cake mixture and roll it into balls. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Freeze the cake balls for about 30 minutes or until firm.
- In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate or almond bark in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until fully melted.
- Dip each frozen cake ball into the melted chocolate, ensuring they’re fully coated without excess. Place them back on the parchment-lined sheet.
- If desired, drizzle with additional melted chocolate and sprinkle festive toppings.
- Chill for a few minutes to let the coating set or allow them to harden at room temperature.
Notes
Let the cream cheese reach room temperature for easier mixing. Use a fork for cleaner dipping and don’t skip the freezing step!
