Description

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Cream cheese frosting (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, cake flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream together the softened butter, buttermilk, egg, vanilla extract, and red food coloring until well combined.
  4. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  5. Lightly flour your surface and roll the dough into a rectangle.
  6. Spread softened butter over the rolled dough, then sprinkle brown sugar, cinnamon, and optional nuts evenly on top.
  7. Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice it into individual rolls.
  8. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and allow them to rise for about 30 minutes.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Once baked, let them cool slightly before generously frosting with cream cheese frosting. Enjoy!
