  • Total Time: 60 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x
  • Diet: Gluten-Free (if using gluten-free bread)

Description

A comforting and flavorful sausage stuffing that’s perfect for holiday gatherings and family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound sausage (pork, chicken, or turkey)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 10 cups bread cubes (stale bread works great)
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon parsley (optional for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned. Remove it from the pan and set it aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the butter, onion, and celery. Sauté until the onion and celery are soft.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the bread cubes, cooked sausage, sautéed vegetables, sage, salt, and pepper.
  5. Pour in the chicken broth gradually, stirring until the mixture is moist but not soggy.
  6. Transfer the stuffing mixture to a greased baking dish. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days. Can be frozen for longer storage. Add a little chicken broth when reheating to keep it moist.
