Description
A cozy and customizable homemade chai latte recipe that warms you up on chilly days.
Ingredients

- 2 cups water
- 2 bags black tea
- 1-inch piece of fresh ginger (peeled and grated)
- 2 sticks cinnamon
- 4 pods cardamom (crushed)
- 4 cloves
- 1/4 tsp black peppercorns
- 2 cups milk (dairy or non-dairy alternative)
- 2 tbsp honey (or to taste)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil.
- Add the tea bags, ginger, cinnamon sticks, cardamom, cloves, and black peppercorns to the boiling water.
- Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes to infuse the flavors.
- Remove from heat and let steep for an additional 5 minutes.
- In a separate small saucepan, gently warm the milk over medium heat until just before it bubbles.
- Remove the tea bags and strain out the whole spices from the tea mixture using a fine mesh strainer, pouring it into two mugs.
- Slowly pour the warmed milk over the tea and froth if desired.
- Serve hot and indulge!
Notes
For a frothier latte, use a milk frother or whisk. Garnish with ground cinnamon or nutmeg for an inviting look.
