Description
A delightful twist on the classic dish, featuring tender green beans in a creamy sauce, crispy bacon, and melted Monterey Jack cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 (14.5-ounce) cans cut green beans, drained
- 1 (10.5-ounce) can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 (10.5-ounce) can cream of bacon soup
- 1/2 cup crumbled cooked bacon
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 1/2 cups French fried onions
Instructions
- Prepare Your Slow Cooker: Start by spraying the insert of a 4 to 6-quart slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray.
- Mix the Base: In a large bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, cream of bacon soup, crumbled bacon, onion powder, garlic powder, and shredded cheese.
- Add Green Beans: Gently fold in the drained green beans, ensuring they are well-coated in the creamy mixture. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Transfer and Cook: Pour the mixture into the slow cooker. Cover it and cook on high for 2 to 3 hours or on low for 4 to 5 hours until it’s heated through and bubbling.
- Add a Crunchy Topping (optional): Toast the French fried onions under the broiler for 2 to 3 minutes just before serving.
- Serve: Change the slow cooker setting to warm and sprinkle the toasted onions on top when it’s time to enjoy your casserole.
Notes
For added flavor, consider using fresh herbs or different types of cheese. Feel free to swap green beans for fresh or frozen alternatives.
