Description

Delicious bite-sized soft pretzels that are easy to make and perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 1 large egg
  • Kosher salt for topping
  • Melted butter (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the warm water, active dry yeast, and granulated sugar. Let this mixture sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and stir until a dough starts to form.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl and let it rise for 1 hour in a warm spot.
  5. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  6. Roll the risen dough into long ropes and cut it into bite-sized pieces.
  7. In a pot, bring 10 cups of water and the baking soda to a boil.
  8. Dip the pretzel bites into the boiling water one at a time for 30 seconds, then place them on a baking sheet.
  9. Brush the tops with the beaten egg and sprinkle generously with Kosher salt.
  10. Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes or until the bites are golden brown.

Notes

Serve warm with mustard, cheese sauce, or a sweet dip. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze for up to a month.
