South Carolina Bird Dog Sandwiches

Description

Delicious sandwiches featuring grilled chicken, crispy bacon, and melted cheddar, all in a toasted hoagie roll.


Ingredients

  • 4 hoagie rolls
  • 1 pound grilled chicken tenders
  • 8 slices cooked bacon
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup ranch dressing
  • 1 cup dill pickle chips
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the hoagie rolls in half lengthwise, ensuring they remain attached on one side.
  3. Spread butter on the inside of each hoagie roll.
  4. Place the rolls on a baking sheet and toast them in the preheated oven for about 5 minutes or until they are lightly golden and warm.
  5. While the rolls are toasting, grill the chicken tenders until fully cooked, approximately 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. Once the rolls are toasted, fill them with the chicken tenders.
  7. Top each sandwich with 2 slices of bacon and a generous amount of shredded sharp cheddar cheese.
  8. Return the sandwiches to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is beautifully melted.
  9. Remove from the oven and drizzle ranch dressing over the melted cheese.
  10. Evenly distribute the dill pickle chips on top for added crunch.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider marinating your chicken tenders or adding sliced jalapeños for heat. You can also use different cheeses or protein alternatives.
