Description
A comforting Southern dish featuring tender green beans combined with crispy bacon for a flavorful medley.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
- 4 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup water or chicken broth
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the drippings in the skillet.
- Add the diced onion to the skillet and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Mix in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, stirring frequently.
- Toss in the trimmed green beans and pour in the water or chicken broth. Cover and cook for approximately 10-15 minutes, or until the beans are tender.
- Stir in the crispy bacon, season with salt and pepper, and serve warm.
Notes
Choose fresh, vibrant green beans for the best flavor and texture. Thick-cut bacon provides heartier flavor.
