Spinach Dip in Bite-Sized Pinwheels

  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 24 pinwheels 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

A fun, portable appetizer that transforms creamy spinach dip into bite-sized pinwheels, perfect for gatherings or cozy nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bag frozen chopped spinach (10 oz) – thawed and squeezed dry
  • 1 block cream cheese (8 oz) – at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • A pinch of red pepper flakes (optional for heat)
  • 1 sheet puff pastry – thawed but still cold
  • 1 egg – for egg wash

Instructions

  1. Start by grabbing a mixing bowl. Combine the soft cream cheese, grated Parmesan, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir until it’s smooth and well-blended.
  2. Take your thawed spinach and squeeze out every last drop of water. Add it to the bowl and mix everything thoroughly to ensure even distribution.
  3. Lightly flour your countertop, then unroll the puff pastry. Spread the spinach mixture evenly across the pastry, leaving one long edge bare for sealing.
  4. Carefully roll the pastry up, jelly-roll style, keeping it tight and uniform. Wrap the log tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm it up.
  5. Preheat your oven to 400°F while you wait.
  6. Once chilled, slice the log into half-inch rounds and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  7. Beat the egg with a splash of water and brush it on top of each pinwheel.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until they puff up and turn golden brown.

Notes

Serve these pinwheels with various dips such as marinara or ranch, or pair with a fresh salad for a well-rounded meal.
