- 8 ounces spaghetti
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and your choice of ground meat, cooking until the meat is browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the marinara sauce and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and pepper until well combined.
- In a large baking dish, layer half of the spaghetti, followed by the meat sauce, and then the ricotta mixture.
- Top it off with the remaining spaghetti and sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil.
Notes
Add crushed red pepper flakes for a spicy twist or include sautéed veggies for added nutrition.
