Description

A cozy baked spaghetti dish that combines savory flavors and creamy textures, perfect for family dinners or gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 8 ounces spaghetti
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cook the spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  4. Add the minced garlic and your choice of ground meat, cooking until the meat is browned. Drain any excess fat.
  5. Stir in the marinara sauce and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
  6. In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese, egg, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  7. In a large baking dish, layer half of the spaghetti, followed by the meat sauce, and then the ricotta mixture.
  8. Top it off with the remaining spaghetti and sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
  10. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil.

Notes

Add crushed red pepper flakes for a spicy twist or include sautéed veggies for added nutrition.
