Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 chai tea bags
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (plus more for garnish)
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (plus more for garnish)
  • 12 tablespoons maple syrup or honey (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup milk (whole or 2% recommended)
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup half and half
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a boil.
  2. Add 2 chai tea bags and let them steep for about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg to the tea.
  4. Mix in 1-2 tablespoons of maple syrup or honey, based on your sweetness preference.
  5. In another saucepan, combine 1 cup of milk and 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream. Heat until warm (do not boil).
  6. Pour the milk mixture into the chai concentrate and stir well.
  7. For an extra hint of sweetness, add 2 tablespoons of sugar or honey and a pinch of sea salt.
  8. Pour into your favorite mug, garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg, and enjoy!

Notes

For non-dairy options, use almond or oat milk instead of regular milk. For creamier texture, froth the milk before adding.
