Description

Delightful homemade cake pops that capture the flavor of Starbucks, perfect for celebrations or a sweet treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (13.25 oz) store-bought vanilla cake mix
  • ⅓ cup neutral oil (vegetable, avocado, or canola)
  • 1 cup milk or water
  • 4 large eggs
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tsp milk (add more if needed)
  • 12 oz candy melts
  • White nonpareils or sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325-350℉ (162-175℃).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the cake mix, oil, milk (or water), eggs, and softened butter. Mix until smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into a greased or lined baking pan and bake according to the cake box instructions, checking for doneness with a toothpick 2-4 minutes before the timer goes off.
  4. Once baked, crumble the hot cake in a large mixing bowl with a stand mixer on low speed.
  5. Mix the buttercream ingredients in a separate bowl until smooth, then combine with the crumbled cake.
  6. Roll the mixture into 1¼-inch balls and chill in the freezer for 15 minutes.
  7. Melt pink candy melts in the microwave until smooth.
  8. Dip the tip of each lollipop stick in melted candy and insert it into each cake ball.
  9. Return the cake pops to the freezer for another 15 minutes.
  10. Melt the remaining candy melts and dip each cake pop until fully coated, tapping off excess.
  11. Decorate with sprinkles quickly before the coating sets and keep upright in a styrofoam block until dry.
