Description

A fun twist on a classic dessert, these Strawberry Shortcake Sushi Rolls combine strawberries and whipped cream wrapped in sushi rice and nori.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Nori (seaweed sheets)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Cook sushi rice according to package instructions. Mix cooked rice with sugar, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract while it’s still warm.
  2. Lay out a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat.
  3. Spread a layer of the sweetened sushi rice over the nori, leaving a small border at the top.
  4. Place sliced strawberries and a dollop of whipped cream in the center of the rice.
  5. Carefully roll the nori away from you, using the mat to keep everything tight until you reach the border.
  6. Moisten the border with water to seal the roll.
  7. Slice the roll into bite-sized pieces and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

These rolls are best served chilled. Consider adding a drizzle of chocolate sauce for an extra treat.
