Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ribeye or strip steaks (1-inch thick)
- 2 tbsp olive oil (divided)
- 1 tsp salt (divided)
- ½ tsp black pepper (divided)
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tbsp butter (for basting)
- ½ lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- Juice of ½ lemon
- 1 tbsp butter
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ tsp Italian seasoning
- Additional salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley (for garnish)
- Mashed potatoes, pasta, or rice for serving
- Steamed asparagus, green beans, or roasted broccoli for serving
- Lemon wedges for garnish
Instructions
- Pat the steaks dry with a paper towel, season with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Let rest at room temperature for 15 minutes.
- Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat, sear steaks for 3–4 minutes on each side for medium-rare. Baste with 1 tbsp of butter in the last minute, then let rest.
- Lower heat, add more oil if needed, and cook shrimp seasoned with salt, garlic powder, and pepper for 1–2 minutes on each side until pink and opaque. Drizzle lemon juice and remove from skillet.
- Melt 1 tbsp butter in the same skillet over medium heat, sauté minced garlic for 1 minute. Pour in heavy cream, bring to a gentle simmer, stir in Parmesan and Italian seasoning, simmer for 3–5 minutes until thickened. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Slice the steak if desired, arrange on a plate with shrimp, spoon creamy garlic sauce over both, sprinkle with parsley, and serve with sides.
Notes
For an extra depth of flavor, consider marinating steaks before cooking. When reheating leftovers, warm gently to avoid toughening the meat.
