Description

A delightful loaf of bread infused with sweetened condensed milk, perfect for brunch or as a sweet treat.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (or bread flour)
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast (1 packet)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup warm milk (110°F/43°C)
  • ⅓ cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 egg yolk (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast: In a bowl, combine the warm milk and sugar, then sprinkle the instant yeast on top. Let this mixture sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes foamy.
  2. Mix the Dough: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture, condensed milk, egg, and softened butter. Stir until combined, and then knead the dough for 8-10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  3. First Rise: Shape the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl. Cover with a clean towel and let it rise in a warm environment for 30-45 minutes, or until it has doubled in size.
  4. Shape the Dough: Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release excess air. Shape into a loaf or divide into 8 pieces for individual buns. Place it into a greased loaf pan and cover for another 15-20 minutes.
  5. Apply Egg Wash & Bake: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Gently brush the top of the dough with the egg wash. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Cool & Serve: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Slice and enjoy warm or at room temperature!

Notes

Best enjoyed with butter, honey, or fresh fruit. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
